The original Waco factory registration number was retained.

Original purchaser, Lehigh  Aircraft Company Allentown, PA. Served as a CPT  WWII secondary flight trainer. Original configuration was without engine cowl or wheel fairings, covered with cotton fabric, yellow wings and blue fuselage.

The engine is an original model 7 cylinder radial Continental  R 670, 220 hp. The engine has a major overhaul including a roller bearing crank bearing and NU Chrome cylinders. This work was completed several years ago and the engine has been stored in a temperature controlled hangar awaiting airframe restoration. In April 2024 the engine was sent to Air Repair, a vintage engine shop, to be inspected and run tested. The 4 hour test run data is on file. The mags, tack drive, step up drive and starter motor have been serviced and up dated.

In excellent condition and very rare, the Curtiss Reed model 55501 propeller was overhauled by Maxwell Propeller Service. During the inspection the steel hub was removed magnifluxed and cad plated.

The years long airframe restoration included all new wood components. The 4130 steel frame was  bead blasted, inspected and epoxy painted. All sheet metal items were replaced with new aluminum, chemically treated, primed and painted. Polyester fabric was used for covering using Poly Fiber STC guidelines. Poly Fiber two part Ranthane was used for color coats. All instruments were overhauled and screen printed with Waco logos by Keystone Instruments.

This is a must see beautiful Waco biplane with all the details and refinements found throughout a spectacular restoration.
